Kim Hyun Joong admitted that he feels more grateful for what he has after visiting  Indonesia and felt the life of Yogyakarta. This was done for the sake of hallyu idol shooting for variety show titled Barefoot Friends.

According to a source, on Tuesday (04/30/2013), after living like the local people, Kim Hyun Joong felt more grateful for what he has so far. Kim Hyun Joong awared of many people who are far less fortunate than himself.

However, he also admitted that he was quite overwhelmed when he played the role of ordinary citizen, not as a celebrity. He usually lives with easiness, in Barefoot Friends, Kim Hyun Joong had to try out a job as a laundress in the wash motors.

Kim Hyun Joong also enjoyed street food, instead of the restaurant as he often does. He tried to eat at famous meatballs in Angkringan. He joined into the crowd while shopping in Malioboro.

Kim Hyun Joong and other hallyu idols, such as UEE 'After School', Kang Ho Dong and Yoon Shi Yoon lived in Yogyakarta for four days and three nights to live as locals people.

Kim Hyun Joong and other hallyu idols were in Yogyakarta for Barefoot Friends variety show shooting. Kim Hyun Joong, UEE 'After School', Kang Ho Dong and Yoon Shi Yoon  stayed in Yogyakarta for four days and three nights to live as local people.

Kim Hyun Joong visited many different places in Yogyakarta. After feeling satisfied to go around Malioboro and Alun-alun Kidul, Kim Hyun Joong went to Prambanan temple.

Kim Hyun Joong and his colleagues were doing interesting things in Prambanan. According to reports a source on Monday (29/04/2013), hallyu idols were asked to "nyeker" aka running without wearing footwear. Later, they were also asked to take pictures with tourists.

Kim Hyun Joong continued to travel with Barefoot Friends casts around Yogyakarta. They also were scheduled to visit Borobudur temple. After finishing Barefoot Friends shooting in Yogyakarta, Kim Hyun Joong and friends returned to South Korea.

[News] Kim Hyun Joong awes fellow cast members with his good looks on ‘Barefoot Friends’ [2013.04.21]

On the first broadcast of SBS ‘Barefoot Friends‘, the cast members took some time to get to know each other. Ahead of the their first expedition, they filmed a virtual greeting to their fellow teammates, sending them to everyone on the cast list.

Hilariously, nearly everyone who watched Kim Hyun Joong‘s message had only one thing to say. “He’s really good-looking,” said Yoon Si Yoon, Eunhyuk, and Kim Bum Soo.

Kim Hyun Joong had more to say, however. “It’s been a while since I’ve promoted in Korea,” he said. “I think my unique character, which hasn’t been seen in a long time, will bring joy on Sunday nights.”

Perhaps because of his good looks, he ended up getting the most replies from the cast members to his virtual message, ahead of the cast’s departure to Vietnam.
