The stigma behind idol actors is that they can't act. 

I can't say this isn't true for all idol actors - there are some that I watch on dramas, that makes me strongly think they should just stick to singing. But then there are many, many others that are really just incredible at acting. Idol actors are everywhere nowadays (in a good way), but here are just a few actors and what I think are really their best roles.

After a few of his failed dramas, the tag that followed Kim Hyun Joong everywhere was that he was a pretty boy that couldn't really act. But he rid himself of that image completely through his most recent 'Generation of Youth' role, Shin Jung Tae. Kim Hyun Joong himself said that he put his everything into this drama, and it shows. This was his catalyst putting his dainty flower boy drama image behind and stepping into more mature roles.

Ahead of his album release, Kim Hyun Joong will be showcasing a song and music video.

On July 15, KeyEast announced that Kim Hyun Joong’s new song and music video will be released on July 18 before his third mini album unveiling. The song will be revealed at noon (KST).

Also with the news, Kim Hyun Joong teased fans with a new image of his album, Round 3, showing a traditional Korean mask, or hahoe mask, inserting a bit of Korean culture to the album.

The Round 3 album will have featuring by both Jay Park and Dok2, as well as a large scale music video for Unbreakable.

It will be released on July 22.

Kim Hyun Joong left fans' hearts beating a bit faster with his charisma and tattoo in another hot teaser image for his upcoming comeback!

It has also been revealed that Kim Hyun Joong recruited the best of the best for his long awaited return. Renowned choreographer Lyle Beniga whipped up his dancing magic for "Unbreakable" as well as Keone Madrid who choreographed "Your Story". Jo Soo Hyun, the director behind the music videos for Psy, also participated in the music video for "Your Story", while director Hong Won Ki has participated in the music video for "Unbreakable". 

As mentioned previously, Dok2 featured in the R&B-style title track, "Your Story", while Jay Park added his attractive voice color to the track, "Unbreakable". 

'Round 3' will be unleashed online on the 22nd and in stores on the 29th!

Kim Hyun-joong is coming back with the role of hero Sin Jeong-tae in the new KBS drama "Generation of Youth".

"Generation of Youth" is based in 1930 Shanghai about youths who go through love, friendship and passion. Sin Jeong-tae is clumsy and random at times but he is the greatest fighter in all of the backstreets of Shanghai.

Based on the original by Bang Hak-gi, Kim Hyun-joong is finally making his first drama come back in 3 years. He was to return sooner with "City Conquest" but had to step down as it fell through.

On the May 26th broadcast, the 'Barefoot Friends' were whisked off to Yogyakarta, Indonesia where the members were challenged to catch spiny lobsters among the rocky island before the waves reach their peak.

Kim Hyun Joong surprised the cast with his fearless spirit by effortlessly climbing and crossing over from rock to rock to catch the lobsters from the waves. Once the actor successfully caught the spiny creatures, Kim Hyun Joong's finger began to bleed, but the actor brushed it off as if it had no effect on him sharing, "I feel good", revealing his love for the waves and mother nature.

Who knew the former 'Flower Boy' was this rugged.

The SS501 member revealed a preview of his upcoming Japanese release, which is his first since "unlimited" in December of last year.

Kim Hyun Joong took a brave step forward on the latest episode of SBS' travel variety program, 'Barefoot Friends'.

During their voyage in Indonesia, the cast members traveled to a remote island to try and capture some of the famed Indonesian rock shrimp. However, along the way, they encountered a perilous cable car journey between two rocky outcrops. Traveling between two flimsy ropes above a whirlpool-filled ocean, the members had to pull the car themselves to get across the ocean.

Despite what looked like a treacherous crossing, Kim Hyun Joong volunteered to be the first one up to bat. Greeting the camera, he stoically said, "Thank you to everyone who followed Kim Hyun Joong for the past years", before taking a figurative leap of faith on the cable.

Although afraid at first, the entrancing vista of the ocean waves and the horizon soon pushed any fear from his mind as he whooped in surprise. "The view is incredible,"  he told his fellow team members once he had safely crossed. "It's not that hard."

It has lately become known that Kim Hyun Joong lent a helping hand to those suffering from the aftermath of the earthquake in China.

One Foundation China had said through its Weibo account on May 17 that "the Korean artist Kim Hyun Joong donated 100 million Korean won for victims of the earthquake."

It continued, "We will work hard to help victims with this money. We will hope for many blessings to come to the citizens of Ya′an in the stead of Kim Hyun Joong."

One Foundation was founded in 2006 by Chinese action star Jet Li.

The magnitude 7.0 Lushan earthquake hit Ya′an in Lushan on April 20. 200 have been said to be killed or missing, while about 13,000 more have been injured.

[News] Kim Hyun Joong (김현중) to Appear in UV′s Concert

Kim Hyun Joong will be appearing as a guest in UV′s concert.

The UV concert will take place from May 24-25.

Yoo Se Yoon′s agency announced through a press release on May 21, "Kim Hyun Joong has come to appear in the concert thanks to the ties he established with UV through SBS′ Barefooted Friends. Kim Hyun Joong will be showing a side of himself never seen on broadcast with UV."

Yoo Se Yoon also said through his agency, "I took a liking to Kim Hyun Joong as I saw he was a sincere friend, and I was touched at how he moved the gendong. I′m thankful he took up the offer despite his busy schedule. I believe I′ll be able to put on a great performance with the support from such great friends."

Kim Hyun Joong won′t be the only guest to appear onstage this day. UV will be, as usual, drawing a long list of all-star guests to help out with the crowd.

The duo previously featured Yoon Do Hyun, 2PM′s Wooyoung and Super Junior′s Kyuhyun at its concert held in October 2012.

UV′s Kkachi and Hani concert is also gathering interest for announcing it will put on a show using black lights.

The SBS series Good Sunday—Barefoot Friends, in which the cast get along well with the natives of Indonesia, will be aired in May 12. In the series, the the cast are given the mission of living like the natives for 24 hours. To fulfill their mission, they visit a produce market in Yogyakarta at dawn. They try their hand at the work of carrying things piggyback, called gendong in the Indonesian language.

Wandering around the produce market, the barefoot friends compete against each other to get hired. Kim Hyun Joong and Yoon Si Yoon sing “GEE,” a Girl’s Generation song, and dance together to capture the attention of a girl who is the daughter of the owner of an apple shop. All the people laugh at them.

Barefoot Friends is a reality show that takes the cast (Kang Ho Dong, Yoon Jong Shin, Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Bum Soo, Yoo Se Yoon, Yoon Si Yoon, Eun Hyuk of Super Junior, and UEE of Aftershool) to places around the world and has them try to live like the locals.

After traveling all around Asia, Kim Hyun Joong will finally be returning to the motherland to greet fans in Korea.

On June 8, Kim Hyun Joong will be holding the 2013 KHJ Show – Party People concert and fanmeeting at the Korea University Hwajung Gymnasium. This will be his first fanmeeting with fans in Korea in a year and a half.

KeyEast stated, “Kim Hyun Joong always thought it was unfortunate that he couldn’t meet with Korean fans a lot due to promotions abroad. This will be his way of repaying fans who have always supported and loved Kim Hyun Joong.”

Kim Hyun Joong also added, “Please anticipate a lot, since we’re planning a lot of things to create unforgettable memories with Korean fans, who I will meeting for the first in a while.”

Kim Hyun Joong has released 5 different covers for his new Japanese single “Tonight“!

As he previously revealed, Kim Hyun Joong went for 5 completely different image concepts for each of the covers. In one, he gave of a bad boy vibe as he was dressed as a hardcore biker. In another, he looked like a classic gentleman, dressing up in a neat suit. The other covers feature him as a playful guitarist and he also went for a more classical old school look in an old building.

His third Japanese single will include 3 songs including “Tonight” and “Cappucino“. The 5 different versions includes 3 different limited editions that will include a DVD with the music video to the 3 new songs. There will also be a supplement version that contains photocards, and a normal version that just comes with the CD.

Kim Hyun Joong went through a cathartic moment after his experience abroad for SBS‘s ‘Barefoot Friends‘.

Wrapping up their visit to Vietnam, the cast of ‘Barefoot Friends’ gathered to reflect on what they had learned after completing their mission to live their lives as a normal Vietnamese person for 24 hours.

“As a celebrity, I always had a soft spot for living as a normal person,” Kim Hyun Joong said. “But after experiencing today, I felt that being a normal person is the hardest thing.”

Kim Hyun Joong and other hallyu idols were in Yogyakarta for Barefoot Friends variety show shooting. Kim Hyun Joong, UEE 'After School', Kang Ho Dong and Yoon Shi Yoon  stayed in Yogyakarta for four days and three nights to live as local people.

Kim Hyun Joong visited many different places in Yogyakarta. After feeling satisfied to go around Malioboro and Alun-alun Kidul, Kim Hyun Joong went to Prambanan temple.

Kim Hyun Joong and his colleagues were doing interesting things in Prambanan. According to reports a source on Monday (29/04/2013), hallyu idols were asked to "nyeker" aka running without wearing footwear. Later, they were also asked to take pictures with tourists.

Kim Hyun Joong continued to travel with Barefoot Friends casts around Yogyakarta. They also were scheduled to visit Borobudur temple. After finishing Barefoot Friends shooting in Yogyakarta, Kim Hyun Joong and friends returned to South Korea.
