Hallyu star Kim Hyun Joong once again solidified himself as one of the leading artists after becoming the first K-pop artist to sell over 200,000 album copies in Japan this year.
According to Oricon’s latest aggregated sales totals, Kim Hyun Joong’s second Japanese single “Heat”, which was released in July, has sold a total of 200,580 copies. The singer beat out the combined sales total of other iconic K-pop artists including Super Junior and TVXQ.
Super Junior’s “Opera” has sold about 184,000 copies since going on sale on May 9, while singing duo TVXQ’s single “Android” moved about 175,000 editions since its release on July 11. Selling over 200,000 copies, Kim Hyun Joong’s “Heat” achieved the feat of the best selling Japanese single by a Korean artist so far this year.
