On October 12th, the Seoul Administrative Court revealed that Key East Entertainment filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family on behalf of Kim Hyun Joong. Kim Hyun Joong’s agency is protesting the ban placed against his song, “Please“.
Key East is requesting that the MOGEF withdraw their ban on Kim Hyun Joong’s digital single album and music video. Representatives stated, “The only lyrics referencing to alcohol in his June release, ‘Please’, are two lines stating, ‘I am drunk’, and ‘Between the spread of the cigarette smoke’. These two are not lines referencing the effects of drugs.”
They continued, “The use of alcohol and cigarettes is not a major theme in the song. Furthermore, the Ministry has failed to ban songs that reference to drugs more directly and explicitly. The decision made on Kim Hyun Joong’s album is unjust.”

Yesterday we reported that Kim Hyun Joong revealed his 3rd MV teaser for “Lucky”. The leading lady for his music video is actress Hong Soo Hyun, who showed that she could still be smoking hot at thirty years old.
One screenshot revealed a sexy image of Hong Soo Hyun wearing a short cropped orange top and jeans in front of the hood of a car, channeling the Megan Fox vibe from the movie Transformers“.
After seeing her slim stomach and curves netizens commented on her body. “Same pose, same sexy feel,” “Just their skin color is different, if not they’d be doppelgangers“.
What do you think — do you think Hong Soo Hyun’s got some of Megan Fox’s hotness, or is she on her own level?

[News] Kim Hyun Joong 김현중 on expectations for “Lucky Guy”, going solo, and SNSD

Repost with full credit, please.
SS501‘s Kim Hyun Joong is making a comeback with his second solo mini-album, ‘Lucky Guy‘. For this latest work, he experimented with a variety of genres, from the punk-rock feel of “Lucky Guy” to the sweet ballad, “I’m Your Man“.
The star recently sat down for an interview with the Korea Times, where he revealed his thoughts on ‘Lucky Guy’, his solo promotions, and the overabundance of idols in the industry.
Check it out below!
▲Do you have any particular expectations for this album?
Kim Hyun Joong: “I just hope a lot of people listen and enjoy it. I’m interested in hearing what the public has to say about it, more than my actual fans. The sales for ‘Break Down‘ weren’t bad, but I wasn’t satisfied, which is why I focused a bit more on the music this time.
▲You are only promoting your album for three short weeks. Is that enough time?
Kim Hyun Joong: “I wish I could promote it a while longer, but I have a performance that was scheduled prior and wanted to release the album before then. It’s too bad, but I’ll work hard during the time I have.”
▲Which song is your favorite?
Kim Hyun Joong: “Lucky Guy”. Why? Because it’s the title song (laughs). I want to have a good time performing this song on stage, because I couldn’t when I was performing “Break Down”.
▲Is it lonely performing as a soloist after being in a multi-member group?
Kim Hyun Joong: “Not at all. I want to focus on making a phenomenal album, and when it’s all said and done, I’ll put on a free concert for my fans.
▲What do you mean, when it’s all said and done?
Kim Hyun Joong: “The career of a dance artist is short-lived. It’s not realistic for me to be in my mid-thirties and dance to 20 songs in a row on stage. I want to hold a final concert for my fans, while I’m still in my prime.”
▲Rain has just enlisted in the military, meaning that there is now a void in the ‘male solo-artist’ domain. Are you looking to become the next Rain?
Kim Hyun Joong: “Rain has accomplished so much during his career. It’s a little different for me though, because I debuted with a group. Although it may not be me, there will be a solo artist who will surpass Rain’s achievements.”
▲Don’t you think that K-Pop these days focuses too much on the music of idol stars?
Kim Hyun Joong: “I too was an idol star, but I don’t really have any particular thoughts about that. The music the idols are performing now might just be the music pushed by their agency. The stubborn ones will probably break out and produce a solo album to do the kind of music that’s right for them.
▲Have any junior idols caught your attention?
Kim Hyun Joong: “Not sure, I didn’t really watch any music programs, except when I was promoting “Break Down”. I’m keeping a close eye on SNSD though, because I know they are making a comeback at a date similar to my own.
▲Aren’t you a little intimidated to go head-to-head with the SNSD girls?
Kim Hyun Joong: “No, not really. I’m not trying to win against SNSD, I just think that the industry will be more lively with their comeback. There will be people who will listen to my music, despite SNSD releasing a new album.

[Info] Important Extracts from 김현중 Kim Hyun Joong’s Recent Interviews

PLEASE REPOST WITH FULL CREDIT

Only the very important parts extracted from a total of 46 interviews that he has done with more than 15 media presses on 10th Oct (Monday) at the Intercontinental Hotel. King Hyun Joong is the Legend!

(1)After 30 years old, will stop being a dance singer, and will turn to band singer cum actor. He admits he’s too impatient, because he wants to do all that he can as a dance singer while he still has the ability now, or it will be too late due to army. He also dislikes to become like a handicapped person if he rests for too long. He cannot stop doing things he love so much.
(2)He actually already thought of [LUCKY]‘s concept and 3rd album’s concept before [BREAKDOWN].
(3)On final/last day being a dance singer, he will open a free concert for fans all over the world at a huge venue in Korea, maybe like the Olympic Stadium or Jamshil Stadium. to thank all his fans, every single one.
(4)His previous girlfriend was a non-celebrity. Wasn’t together for long, and broke up before [BREAKDOWN] because was too busy. He has no wish to date for now.
(5)When he prepares for his album, it was a complete full month without night sleep
(6)★Korea 60%, Overseas 40%; in Korea, Actor and Singer 5:5.
(7)The werewolf’s howl at 「Lucky Guy」 02:21 is by Hyun Joong himself. ^^
(8)「U」 was the final recorded song. It was recorded after his Aug 2011 Asia Tour. His condition at that time wasn’t good, it was toughest song recorded.
(9)It does not matter to him whether a full album/mini-album. It is meaningless (I think so too). It’s the quality that matters. and he wants to keep releasing albums in mini- or single manner. Just like format “KHJ’s 1st album”, “KHJ’s 2nd album”, “KHJ’s 3rd album”, etc.
(10)Fans worry about him going to Sendai for Japan Nationwide Tour. his reply was that it is a place where people live too. If they are alright, he will be too. The stands were decided before the March 2011 earthquake. and he wants to keep to promise.
(11)Chorus for song 「웃어요(Smile)」 was originally to be done by JYJ Junsu and Jaejoong, but they were releasing album at same time, recording time wasn’t right so could not.
(12)He says wants to get married at earliest 35 years old.
(13)He created the Uzooshin character because he likes outer space of course, and it would be so cool to see a thousand alien faces in a pitch dark venue, under one roof (concert/event venue), staring at him.

『Most Importantly』

(14)★It’s almost impossible to release another SS501 album due to the group name’s copyright by DSP Entertainment. But it is possible for a unite joint stage, maybe at big events like year-end ceremonies, etc. Friendship has never affected. It is not wise to spread rumors around like their album is already recording and will be released when-when-when; it will be more wise to just speak the truth because then, fans won’t be waiting aimlessly, though it may be more hurt.

Kim Hyun Joong, who released his second mini album, said, “I want to perform music that has a reversal.”
Singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong cast off his tough and charismatic image and made a comeback with an image of a mischievous gambler. Kim Hyun Joong released his second mini album entitled “Lucky” on October 11, and it was different from his first solo album entitled “Break Down” by utilizing a funky band sound.

Kim Hyun Joong gave an interview at Coex Intercontinental Hotel on October 10, and he said, “I have wanted to present music that has a reversal. Many people seemed to expect that I would release music that would be similar to my previous album ‘Break Down,’ and I think that I successfully provided a reversal in light of that. People will evaluate my album, but I personally want to give 100 points to my album as I had put my utmost efforts into create this album.” He revealed that he was satisfied with his album. He continued, “I think that I have to play music that my fans and ordinary people can enjoy. ‘Break Down’ was not a kind of music that people will pay to download the songs, but I thought that people might be able to enjoy the new album while watching and listening to the songs. This time, I focused on music that everybody can pleasantly sing along to.” The album “Lucky” contains a total of five songs including funky rock music with the up tempo track “Lucky Guy,” which is based on the sound of his band, a funky rock-and-roll track entitled “Do You Like That?” the ballad song entitled “I Am Your Man,” and a song with lovely lyrics entitled “U.” Kim Hyun Joong is highly interested in band music, and he came up with the idea of creating “band music that can be listened to while dancing.” Members of the rock band “Day Break” and the funk soul band “Common Ground” participated in playing the music.

[Review] Kim Hyun Joong (김현중) "Lucky Guy" track

reposted from: www.soompi.com

After releasing "Break Down" earlier this year to commercial success, Kim Hyun Joong is back with a fresh new sound. How does "Lucky Guy" fare? Not bad, not bad at all.

"Lucky Guy" is all about quirk, attitude, and chaos -- fun chaos. It sounds like something straight out of a TV sitcom opening song from the early 2000's, with the finesse and production technology of 2011. The song is fun to listen to, and rather than barraging listeners with all these fancy auto-tune variants and overused synth loops, we're given actual instruments playing actual melodies.

The quirk of this song is highly dependent on the instruments - that gutsy electric guitar line and those raw, yet clean and smooth drums, but surprisingly, Hyun Joong's vocals do a lot for the overall effect too.

Let's be honest. Hyun Joong has never been the best singer in K-Pop. He's easily out-sung by many, many other idols. However, he's always been consistently okay, and sometimes he has his good moments -- and "Lucky Guy" is one of them. His light and airy vocals are a good contrast to the arrangement, and prevent the song from going all over the place. All the other elements of the song are so intense that if someone with a bigger, sharper voice were to sing it, the song would be too much.

"Lucky Guy" starts rather simply, but another thing that draws in listeners is how fast the dynamics change. They don't change every two seconds or anything; you're still able to take in all the individual parts, but before you get bored, something changes, leaving you at the edge of your seat in anticipation of what's going to happen next.

The hook is also consistent with the entire theme running through the song -- it sticks with you, but it's not too repetitive. It's a hook you can actually hum to yourself, because you remember it and because it's humanly possible to sing it without fancy studio tricks. And that's what can, and will, ultimately make this song popular -- the fact that other people can sing it too.

There's no arguing that technology has done things we would've never been able to do otherwise, but as time passes, new advances will come, and what is new now will become obsolete in the distant or near future. What will transcend time and remain are creative songs, strong arrangements, and melodies. And that's what "Lucky Guy" has -- a strong arrangement and an actual, sing-able, melody.
